Living in Oakland Township for 50 years, I am dedicated to safeguarding Oakland Township’s distinctive character, responsible development and integrity in governance. I’m a proponent of retaining our Parks system and Land Preservation. Serving on the Board of Trustees for over 11 years as a Trustee, Township Clerk and current Township Supervisor, I have the historical knowledge of our governance to maintain continuity through personnel and staffing changes. As a fiscal and constitutional conservative, I voted to give our resident a tax holiday this past year from paying general fund property tax. I support low taxes, no increase millages and maintaining our AAA Bond rating. This only can happen through careful budgeting and maintaining our financial stability.

 

As Supervisor, my top goals are continuing improvements of our roads (both paved and gravel). Work to reduce speed limits on several roads for resident safety due to increased volumes and have become dangerous. I value our Public Safety and will make sure staffing levels are keeping up with the needs of our residents, making appropriate and fiscally responsible additions. Finally, I would advocate for our community remaining as rural as possible. I respect and listen to the concerns of all our residents and will continue to help solve and/or resolve these issues. I believe in creative ideas, innovative solutions and decisions that are in the best interest of the majority and the Township as a whole.

My motivation to run for this position stems from my desire to give back to the community where I raised three children and had a fulfilling career. I have been a resident of Oakland Township for 31 years and have served as the current Clerk and past Trustee. Additionally, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Math from Michigan State University and a Master's of Science in Electrical from the University of Michigan. In my free time, I volunteer as a rescue diver for various boat races in Michigan, Ohio, and Florida and enjoy SCUBA diving in the Great Lakes, Detroit, and St. Clair Rivers.

With a 25-year career in architecture and business, I am committed to maintaining the Township's financial strength, supporting land preservation efforts, and ensuring responsible iterative development that aligns with resident wishes, our Master Plan, and our Zoning Ordinance.
